Job Description

Position Title: Development Associate

Reports to: Executive Director

Organizational Description: Women’s Ordination Conference (WOC) is a feminist non-profit organization that advocates and prays for the ordination and the full equality of women in an inclusive and accountable Roman Catholic Church.

Position Summary: WOC seeks a highly motivated and organized individual to support the fundraising operations of our membership organization. This part-time non-exempt position is responsible for development administration, database maintenance, and support of WOC’s solicitation cycles.  The development associate works with WOC staff to ensure financial stability, maintain membership relations, and keeps our D.C. based office running efficiently.   

Hours: 10-15 hours per week 

Hourly Wage: $23-26/hour

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Manage the timely acknowledgement of gifts and assure that all types of donations are properly documented;
  • Ensure data integrity through accurate data entry and ongoing clean-up efforts;
  • Prepare research on prospects and assemble materials for cultivation and solicitation visits;
  • Generate accurate reports in a timely manner; 
  • Coordinate the production and distribution of recurring appeals and stewardship materials;
  • Assist with the writing and editing of appeals, acknowledgements, donor news, reports, and proposals;
  • Communicate with donors in person, on the phone, and by email;
  • Process incoming and outgoing mail and ensure smooth operations of WOC’s office. 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • At least two years of experience in non-profit office environment;
  • Excellent communication skills and judgment with the ability to maintain privacy and confidentiality;
  • Proven administrative, organizational and multitasking skills;
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel, and remote office platforms;
  • Strong communication skills and able to respond in a timely manner; 
  • Experience with donor databases, particularly Little Green Light or similar products.

Preferred: 

  • Interest in fundraising and development in a non-profit environment;
  • Informed understanding of data and databases, solicitation standards, and stewardship;
  • Passion and familiarity with WOC’s mission.

Location:

The position is based in Washington, D.C. and the Development Associate must be in Washington to complete their duties. While WOC offers flexible and remote scheduling options, 100% remote work is not an option for this position. 

Additional information:

This temporary contract will be reviewed after 90 days of employment, with the expectation of moving to a permanent, part-time position.
