View and print WOC’s World Day of Prayer Activist Packet online.
If you are organizing an event, please let us know! Contact Nidza Vazquez at (703) 352-1006 or nvazquez@womensordination.org. We can send you a FREE Activist Packet that will provide you with ideas and resources to plan an event and connect you to WOC members in your area.
The Activist Packet contains the 2006 World Day of Prayer Liturgy, (put together by Ashley Reynolds, a member of WOC’s Young Feminist Network Leadership Team, and Janice Sevre-Duszynska, a WOC Board member who lives in Lexington, KY), organizing and media tips, and WOC resources.
Due to the work many of us are doing, and the popularity of Angela Bonavoglia’s book, Good Catholics Girls, published by Harper Collins/Regan Books, the way we define “good Catholic girls” is changing, and people worldwide are counting the progressive women working for church renewal among them! With this in mind, we chose “Good Catholic Girls Stand Up for Women’s Ordination” as the theme for the 11 th Annual World Day of Prayer.
The theme also reflects the courageous actions of people who are “standing up for women’s ordination” every Sunday! In at least one parish in Washington, D.C., people stand during Mass to bring attention to the fact that women are banned from ordination for no reason. Other women wear purple stoles, the international symbol of women’s ordination, during Mass.
We want to let our entire community know about these and many other brave actions, and inspire you to do the same! If you know of ways people express their support for women’s ordination and a renewing priestly ministry publicly, we want to hear about it! Please send us your story!
Please contact Nidza Vazquez at nvazquez@womensordination.org to send your story about people standing up for women’s ordination (in every way!) and to let us know you will be planning a World Day of Prayer event in your community. We will post it on our website and connect you to WOC members in your area.
