World Day of Prayer & WOC Board Nominations

1. Support the World Day of Prayer for Women's Ordination!
2. Send in nominations for the WOC Board of Directors!

1. World Day of Prayer for Women's Ordination: March 25, 2004
On March 25, the World Day of Prayer for Women's Ordination, WOC joins women's ordination supporters around the world to honor women called to priestly ministry. Each year WOC sponsors public events and prayerful protests supporting women's ordination on this special day. Many local groups across the United States organize public witnesses, home liturgies, or lectures about women's ordination. Whether you gather with one or one hundred, we ask you to honor March 25th with prayer or public action. It's not too late to start organizing an event in your city!

The most recent edition of WOC’s quarterly publication, NewWomen, NewChurch, included a beautiful liturgy with this year's theme “The New Face of the Priesthood” written by Ginny Kiernan Dahlberg of Milwaukee WOC. The edition also contained helpful tips for organizing your local event. For additional resources about organizing a local World Day of Prayer event, contact Joy Barnes at the WOC Office at 703-352-1006 or grassroots@womensordination.org.

*Organizing a World Day of Prayer activity? Make sure your event is publicized on WOC’s list of World Day of Prayer Events. WOC is compiling a list of local activities to be included on our website and sent out in upcoming Action Alerts. Please include the date, time, location, brief description, and contact information for the event organizer.

Be sure to check out http://www.womensordination.org in coming days for details about events in your area!

2. WOC Board Pre-Nominations
The Women's Ordination Conference is still seeking nominations to our National Board of Directors. Responsibilities of a board member include policy planning, serving on committees, fundraising, and fiscal oversight. Candidates for the WOC Board are required to be current members of WOC ($40 membership fee may be paid at the time of pre-nomination). Board members serve a three-year term; attend three board meetings a year; and work actively on fund-raising and committee projects between meetings.

If you would like to submit a candidate or to nominate yourself, please fill out the pre-nomination form at the bottom of this e-mail and return it to the National WOC office. Please note, the final slate of nominees on the ballot must be ratified by the WOC Board. Nominations must be postmarked by March 15, 2004.
