"Good Catholic Girls Stand Up for Women's Ordination"

“The Fruits of Our Labor” Bishop Patricia Fresen event was held at the beautiful Trinity Episcopal Cathedral Commons on March 27th. Forty attendees braved downtown traffic and were rewarded with a dynamic and insightful speech by Patricia Fresen. Her talk, “One Woman’s Call to Priesthood,” brought tears to the eyes of many as they sat at flower bedecked round tables in the elegant, contemporary conference room just steps from the glorious high gothic Cathedral.

The spirits of the saints and prophets were with us! The experience of Patricia during the fall of apartheid, and its parallels with breaking an unjust Canon law inspired many to rethink how exclusive and unjust the Catholic Church is toward women. A short question and answer session was followed by a light supper, further discussion, and the closing “Prayer to Move On,” led by local Sacred Space founders Kay Eaton and CeCe Miller.

 Evelyn Hunt serves as the President of WOC’s Board of Directors and has been an active member of WOC for many years.

Cleveland Women's Ordination Conference invites you to hear... Bishop Patricia Fresen, D.Th. of the Roman Catholic Women Priests, spent 44 years as a Dominican sister in South Africa. She has her doctorate in theology from University of South Africa – Pretoria. Forced to leave her Domincan community after her ordination to the priesthood in August 2003, Patricia currently serves as the director of formation for the Roman Catholic Womenpriests Program based in Germany and Austria.
