Still a bit fuzzy on women...

Still a bit fuzzy on women…

Another interview with Pope Francis published in Italy and Argentina by the daily Corriere della Sera, made headlines yesterday, covering topics such as contraception, civil unions, Humanae Vitae, “Papal fame,” and the role of women in the church.

What did Pope Francis say about women in the Church?

L’approfondimento teologale è in corso.

It is true that women can and should be more present in the places of decision of the church.  But this I would call a promotion of functional type… with only this, you do not come far down the road.  We must rather think of the church with the feminine article “la”: it is feminine from its origins. The great theologian Hans Urs von Balthasar has worked a lot on this theme:  the Marian principle guides the church next to Peter.  The Virgin Mary is more important than any bishop or any apostle.  The deepening of theology is in progress. Cardinal Stanisław Ryłko, [the president of the Pontifical Council for the Laity,] is in working in this direction with many women who are experts in various subjects.

When and where is the next Women’s Ordination? I attended one several yrs. ago and would like to support these remarkable women by being present, if possible.
    Sincerely,
