WOC in Rome!

WOC in Rome!

The Eternal City calls! It’s true: the Women’s Ordination Conference is going to Rome, and staying awhile!

WOC is hitting the road!

We’re on the move!

In our effort to change the structures and representation of women in the Roman Catholic Church, we at WOC believe we must be firmly situated within the Italian context to better highlight the global necessity of women’s ordination.  We believe that especially in the beginning of Francis’ papacy advocates for women’s ordination must have a strong, international voice and presence in Rome.  This campaign seeks to deeply root WOC’s mission in the global, public consciousness, and strengthen our international support.

I am thrilled and honored to have the opportunity to travel to Rome.  During this time I will enhance my Italian language skills, network with international allies and activists, attend lectures on the history of women in the Church, and hope to share the gospel message of justice and dignity in our Church.

A few goals…

Bringing the message inside the Vatican!

Bringing the message inside the Vatican!

Bring the voice of Catholics worldwide who support women’s ordination to forefront of religious media;

Influence the curia through formal requests for meetings, dialogue in partnership with coalition partners;

Build an activist base in Rome, gearing up for our May 22nd 2014 action on the 20th anniversary of Ordinatio Sacerdotalis

  • Enhance membership content through a sustained WOC presence in Rome

And bring the daily witness for women’s ordination into a renewed priesthood to the Vatican.

I look forward to sharing more about this journey from Rome with each of you and hope you will follow along here at The Table.  Most updates will begin in February, once my language courses finish, nevertheless, you may also support WOC’s work through a donation anytime.
